Heavy Duty Rolling Lawn Aerator

Help improve lawn and soil aeration with this manual rolling lawn aerator. The steel spike roller is designed to create openings in suitable soil surfaces, helping water, air and nutrients reach deeper into the ground for healthier lawn maintenance.

Key Features

  • Steel spike aeration roller: Designed to penetrate suitable soil surfaces and support effective lawn aeration.
  • 41cm wide roller: Covers a wider area with each pass, making it practical for regular garden and lawn care.
  • Long 145cm handle: Provides extended reach while pushing the aerator across your lawn.

  • 3-piece detachable handle: Designed for straightforward assembly and more convenient storage.

Not worth buying if garden area is big

This is a cheap item. Assembled but keeps falling to pieces. You are able to use for two metres then bolts come off one works tight other loosens.

Falls apart and doesn't do the job anyway.

Totally useless, even if assembled correctly the locking nuts come off and it falls apart. Prongs don't penetrate. Waste of money.

Sturdy, good value.

Takes a few minutes and a spanner to put together. Very sturdy and goes into the ground easily, even on my stoney lawn. Can take off the handle for storage. Can add extra weight to the middle if you need. Very good value compared to more expensive products and seems like i will be able to get years of use.

Waste of money.

The nuts that hold the handle to the spiked base come loose within 5 yards of use no matter how much they are tightened. A complete waste of money.

overly lightweight rolling spike tool

This green metal and plastic rolling lawn aerator is a traditional looking tool for garden maintenance. When putting it together, you have to use your own tools. The frame needs good tightening, as the nut can come loose with using it regularly across the lawn, maybe adding something at the tips could stop this I don't know.I have used this on heavy clay soil, and I found the best results when wetting the soil a bit first. I intentionally watered my soil slightly to make it less resistant, as this thing isn't very heavy so can at times struggle to puncture the soil if the ground is dry and hard. It could definitely use a bit more weight to it to help drive the steel spikes into the earth without having to lean on it quite so hard.It works with some technique and a bit of effort and planning. It does take a bit of work to get the spikes to work effectively whilst pushing depending on the state of the soil, so you need to be prepared for some exertion. It is not a magic tool, operating more like old fashioned tools, but I expected it to be a bit of work anyway. It is somewhat of a 50 / 50 tool, as it can work but might not depending on various factors like your ground conditions and moisture levels. though I personally do like it, and manage it okay, I could see this being an issue for many, especially the bolt loosening. I would rate it 3.5 stars based on the build quality and effort required, but since I can't do half stars I have had to round it up to 4 stars as it is actually doing the job for me, but hope these points help others decide.

Cheap and Flimsy feel

Feels cheap and flimsy. Screws fall out after a short while and makes using this frustrating even on a small lawn. Definitely better tool out there.

Need to know

A number of earlier reviews suggest problems in assembly of the short handle onto the yoke. Don't follow the assembly instructions. Mount the short handle to the yoke first, then yoke to roller, that way you won't stab yourself with the spikes. The second issue is the nyloc nuts, you will find in use that one nut gets tighter and the other backs off. Some suggest rolling in one direction then reverse, but this isn't a satisfactory solution, so still looking at how to resolve. For price it's constructed well, but you need to exert some pressure to get results.

Works best on damp soil – limited testing on dry lawn

I got this up to help improve a slightly compacted lawn and used it after scarifying as part of my lawn care routine.Assembly was straightforward and didn’t take long. The handle comes in three sections, which is useful for storage, and once put together it feels reasonably sturdy for a manual tool.In use, it’s easy enough to push across the lawn, but I’ve only tried it on dry soil so far. On that surface, it doesn’t penetrate very well, and you need to apply quite a bit of pressure. From using it, it’s clear this type of aerator is better suited to damp or pre-watered ground where the spikes can go in more effectively. The roller width is a good size, allowing you to cover a decent area without it being awkward to manoeuvre. The handle height is also comfortable, so you don’t need to bend while using it.Build quality feels decent overall, though like most manual aerators, it relies on both user weight and suitable ground conditions to perform at its best.In terms of value for money, it seems reasonable, but its effectiveness will depend on when and how it’s used.Overall, a practical tool, but best results will likely come when used on softer, moist soil rather than dry ground.
